Description : India’s diverse and rapidly growing infrastructure requires robust and reliable foundations, particularly given the country’s varied geological conditions, from soft soils to rocky terrains. Addressing these challenges is vital for ensuring the long-term stability and safety of the infrastructure. When construction is carried out on soft or unstable ground, there is a risk of settlement, which can include geological effects like subsidence and sinkholes, as well as man-made issues such as mining voids. Additionally, when the overburden on native ground is significantly increased, the problem of differential settlement or collapse may arise. Ground improvement solutions, such as soil stabilization, reinforcement with geosynthetics, and deep foundation techniques, are crucial for adapting to these complex geotechnical conditions, enabling sustainable and resilient infrastructure across the country. This technical session will cover advanced solutions and techniques in ground improvement using geosynthetics to effectively tackle challenging ground conditions. Moreover, real-world projects demonstrating the successful application of these advanced ground improvement methods will be discussed during the session.
