UGC-Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre

The UGC-Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Iswar Saran PG College has been established in September 2023 under the scheme of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The UGC-MMTT Centre frequently organizes training programmes to groom faculty for NEP-2020, analytical skills, communication skills, honesty, integrity, human rights, gender sensitization and commitment to social justice. The mission of this UGC-MMTT Centre is to impart comprehensive training for instilling professionalism, competency and humanism in the teachers of Higher Education.

About the Programme

In higher education, teachers often begin their careers without formal and quantifiable training in teaching methodologies, classroom management, and leaming psychology. This gap must be addressed through structured training programmes that equip teachers with modern pedagogical skills and expertise, bridging the gap between the needs of a developing world and the demands of a knowledge society.

With the advent of technology and numerous ICT tools, the role of a teacher has evolved from merely providing information to facilitating leaming. Therefore, newly recruited teachers in higher education require training in contemporary pedagogy, teaching methods, and evaluation techniques. This will help them master the latest assessment tools and fulfill their roles effectively.
Additionally, they need to understand the varied responsibilities of faculty members to perform their duties proficiently in academic and administrative areas.
This Orientation Training Programme aims to empower and encourage teachers to revitalize the learning process by adopting innovative pedagogic approaches.
It seeks to prepare teachers to implement effective teaching practices in both online and blended leaming environments.
As envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the program covers crucial areas such as the structure and governance of higher education institutions, the roles and responsibilities of faculty, curriculum design, modem pedagogical strategies, ICT tools for teaching and research, evaluation methods, research integration, emotional and student support, content creation, and academic leadership.

Objectives

  • Raise awareness among participants about the structure, functioning, governance, and regulations in higher education institutions, and prepare them to become active contributors to institutional development.
  • Help faculty members understand their roles and responsibilities in higher education, and instil essential professional skills, competencies, and attitudes.
  • Guide faculty in conceptualizing and implementing curriculum design and development to meet global standards.
  • Introduce participants to modern pedagogy, teaching methods, and strategies Train faculty members on effectively using ICT tools for teaching and research.
